Our Volunteers are very important to the Community Health Clinic.
Our staff is assisted by many volunteers, both healthcare professionals (physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses) and community volunteers with a variety of important skills.
Some community volunteers greet patients when they enter and guide them through the process; some provide educational counseling, follow-up phone calls to patients, office assistance and data entry. An important - and time consuming- task is filling out the applications for low-cost medications from the various pharmaceutical companies.
Quarterly orientation training sessions are scheduled for our new volunteers. Refresher sessions are also given periodically. You can sign up to volunteer at any time.
The first Volunteers In Medicine clinic was established in 1993 in Hilton Head, SC. There are currently more than 90 VIM clinics throughout the nation. It is the VIM "culture of caring"philosophy that recognizes healing begins when patients are treated with dignity & respect.
